NLP trained readers will notice the overlapping of senses that defines the moment and experience of being bullied. This overlapping of senses is then often associated with the surrounding area, the bully, the very location where bullying took place. In other words there is often a Synaesthesia and Anchor that has been created…. Engage in conversation with the child and carefully listen for their complex equivalence(s). Observe their behaviour, the pictures they draw, and the stories they read or tell. Whenever and where ever possible create counter examples, telling them metaphors and using any opportunities to reframe. Changing the complex equivalence is an ongoing process, not just for dealing with the event of being bullied, but also for many different challenging life experiences that we all experience as we are growing up. Since you now understand it may fundamentally be about Synaesthesia, Anchor and Complex Equivalence, you can work to separate out the Synaesthesia and change the sub-modalities. You can also collapse Anchors of the various associations, especially the location where bullying took place and the environment. Collapsing Anchors and change the Synaesthesia should be done as soon as possible.

By By Sonya Yeh Spencer, ITA NLP Trainer, Educator, Coach The old Chinese saying, roughly translated here, “Know thy self and your enemy will ensure you win every time” doesn’t sit so well with me these days. I prefer to think “Know thy self and others for long term success”. Why do I say for “long term success”? Because by actively understanding yourself and others, you can appreciate and act accordingly in response to the dynamic nature [Read more...]

Too often we hear clients saying “I need to change X, Y, Z” or complaining to us that for years they have been trying to improve their ability to do X, Y, Z but failed. Yet, when we probed, they have no clear idea of the purpose for making such a change. Knowing the purpose for creating change [Read more...]
