Harry Lloyd Over the years I’ve come to believe that there is only one sure fire litmus test for measu… if you cheat your family to invest into your career, you and your loved ones will pay a very heavy price. It is simply wrong to value your workplace commitments over your family commitments – moreover it’s not necessary. If your focus is on your family, your career won’t suffer, it will flourish. Get this wrong and not only will your family suffer, but so will you as you someday mourn the loss of what could have been, but cannot be recovered.

Use Solitude to Make Yourself a Better Leader
Leadership is practiced in public and a great deal of leadership learning takes place there, too. But good use of the time you spend alone will make you an even better leader….. Some of your time alone should be devoted to a learning project. One of the paradoxes of leadership is that the time you spend alone can make you a better leader. It’s there, out of public leadership’s high velocity environment, that you can become a better leader by deepening your understanding of the world and yourself.
