“The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.” — Albert Einstein

Daniel Pink compares this upcoming “Conceptual Age” to past periods of intense change, such as the Industrial Revolution and the Renaissance, as a way of emphasising its importance. Abundance, influence of Asia, and Automation: outsourcing pervades our world. Another way of saying some of this is that many of the jobs and functions that can be carried out by the Left Brain can be coded and outsourced and these careers are not as safe. The Right Brain capabilities are the ones that might be more sought after. The MFA (Master of Fine Arts) replaces the MBA (Master of Business Administration). Pink concludes outsourcing of white-collar jobs (knowledge, left-brain work) to outsourcers in Asia will have profound “long term effects” on the economic well-being of Australia, Germany, Japan, the UK and the US. Just as many factory jobs flowed out of the western world during the eighties, globalisation of white-collar jobs is already happening and the flood will soon follow.
