Developing Gratitude – 3 little techniques I use for myself and my clients – part 1

Following from a post on gratitude, here is what I had promised to share with you.

The key is to really develop a deep sense of gratitude that lasts long enough that the positive emotion can influence your brain chemicals and your central nervous system. By doing so consciously, you are in control of your emotional state, you can also distinguish positive, resourceful state from the not so positive and un-resourceful state.

So here are a few ways to do so:

  1. every day whenever you can and safe to do so, like in the shower, getting changed; really whenever, say “I am happy and grateful for X”. so, for example this morning on my way to get a coffee I said “I am happy and grateful for the sense of peace and quietness and able to have the freedom to go anywhere I want” and “I am happy and grateful for living in a country where I am safe and can enjoy freedom”, and “I am happy and grateful for my health and been supported to do what I want and follow my heart”…..

Please do it until you feel completely overwhelmed by a sense of deep happiness, and when you feel that just do some more till you feel there are so many things in the world that we can feel grateful for.

Understand that an emotional shift has to happen and has to be strong to really generate the desired outcome, and you will be surprised with the results.
